Lakeshore Arts Session March 20
This model is my favourite yet, some of her gestures were so subtle and naturally beautiful. There was one pose in the gesture series which seemed so iconic, the certain way the foot was lifted and angled, the gesture of the hand. It was a complete and utter shame that it was such a brief pose.I hope that I get to draw her again. Some models are just inspiring and give their best, challenging themselves with what they can hold. Really it’s a fight for expression. These are all longer poses, wish there was a model session every day, I would get the practice I need.
Life Drawing and colour coffee shop sketches for the 10 year anniversary of Big Guy’s.
Having not gone to life drawing in 2 weeks, I’m amazed at how my drawings have improved in such a short period of time, I guess going over anatomy really helped, also my gestures were looser and more accurate. Tony and Rose gave me a ride home today so I was lucky to save my tokens!
Sample of coloured Coffee Shop Sketches I’ll print up for my summer art show, it will be 10 years of Big Guy’s Little Coffee Shop.( I don’t think I can draw everyone…) we will celebrate remembering the people who have come into our lives and have gotten to know, some of which are no longer with us.
Finished my first abstract today too. It’s been a productive day.
The last two weeks.
There have been no drawing sessions the last two weeks, but had my neighbour from upstairs over and I drew her while we talked. I’ve been working on an abstract painting which is almost done, and then I hope to start another like in before March begins. It’s larger than my past abstract painting and I’m working quicker. I think the improv classes are helping me not to overthink everything so much. I’m also working on weaving an authentic Canadian scarf which I may as well decorate and hang in my small local art show in the summer. I wrote this song in the free time I had. https://musescore.com/user/1278236/scores/3449481
Anatomy
Read Anatomy for the artist, pretty vague, mostly just drawings. Steps of chiselling out a face improved my perception of the face. Need a better book on anatomy for artists.
Kintsugi
Instead of focusing on the skills I’ve lost through circumstance and resulting depression, I need to focus on using art to mend myself.
Session 3 Lakeshore Arts 30th 2017
This model’s opening gestures were nice. The five minute poses were 3 minutes to our chagrin, and this time there was no music (Walter wasn’t there today). Close to three hours of drawing. Next week I’ll look into getting the materials to work bigger.
